This year’s celebrations will take place at Ssaza grounds in Kisoro Municipality, Kisoro District in Kigezi region which is one of the most visited regions in Uganda by tourists on a Uganda safari with President Yoweri Museveni expected to be the Chief Guest.

Some of the attractions that have made Kigezi region the tourism hub of Uganda include the elusive mountain gorillas. These gentle giants in Uganda can only be found in this region in the protected areas of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. A Uganda gorilla safari to Bwindi impenetrable park gives you an amazing opportunity to see any of the 18 gorilla families that have been habituated within this park’s four gorilla trekking sectors of Rushaga, Nkurungo which are in the southern end of the park, Ruhija in the East and Buhoma in the North end of the park. However, these 18 gorilla families are only a fraction of all the 459 gorillas that are found in Bwindi and Serembwe gorilla reserve sect of the Virunga ranges. A Uganda gorilla tour to Mgahinga aligns you with an encounter with the 1 gorilla family called Nyakagezi which habituates the slopes of these Virunga ranges of Mgahinga. However, as today, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is home to 2 habituated gorilla families because one gorilla family named Hirwa crossed into Mgahinga Gorilla Park since these parks share boundaries along with Congo’s Virunga National Park.
